Sometimes our government truly mystifies me. A plane carrying Cat Stephens from London to DC is diverted and he is forced to return to London because of possible terrorist connections. Sure, the guy who wrote "Peace Train" may not seem like much of a threat, but better safe than sorry.
So, why would we let a guy in who was "carrying a homemade sword, a hatchet, a knife, brass knuckles and a chain saw stained with what appeared to be blood"? (See Man with sword, chain saw let into United States) Granted, the customs person did confiscate the items, but wouldn't that raise a tiny hint of suspicion? Besides anything else, who in this day and age walks up to customs with a chain saw and sword and expects to be let in? Only a loony nut case.
I guess his name wasn't on a terrorist watch list though, so let him on in. "Enjoy the United States of America, sir!"
