Waiting for Hannover, and wondering which client people think they will use

Out of curiosity, are people expecting that once Hannover is released, they will use the Eclipse integrated version right away, or the stand alone version for the foreseeable future, or the stand alone for a bit followed by the Eclipse version?  I'm just wondering about the early thinking that is going on.

The truth? Eclipse is a great selling point with regards to integration, open standards and architectural vision. In real life, the good old Notes (and Designer) stand alone versions are probably going to be around for a long, long (wonderful... sorry) time. :) But, yes, eventually, as time goes by and generations outgrow us old, archaic folk, I do believe the Eclipse version will take over and the old clients will become a bit retro... like playing Lady PacMan on a real arcade machine as opposed to an emulator. Anyway. I'm bargaining on that "backward compatibility" effort they always put to much effort into, in ensuring that both "platforms" will be equally accessible.

I think the first beta will give us all a better feel for what might happen.

If the beta cycle goes well, early adoption is possible. If not, I'd guess most enterprises will treat it as a release 1.0. In IBM's own words, code talks...

I am hoping to move to the eclipse client asap, with a roll out to customers once I have used it for a few months.

I'd like to move to Eclipse version asap as well...
