I like the new LinkedIn endorsements

LinkedIn has added the ability to endorse specific skills, and it has been fun checking out friends and connections to see the skills/expertise they list. I'm being careful to only endorse people for skills I have some personal knowledge about. It is easy to endorse almost any of my connections for Lotus Notes or Lotus Domino, but I won't endorse anybody for Sharepoint unless I have dealt with them regarding Sharepoint, as I have with Duffbert for example.

I appreciate those of you who have endorsed my skills. I guess it remains to be seen how widely used (or abused) these endorsements are, and how useful they are to others in evaluating skills, but I'm glad to see the Lotus community embracing them.

I looked at mine the other day and found an endorsement from someone I have never heard of on every one of my selections. I am not sure why someone would go through all the trouble of clicking on everything to endorse people they have never met.

I was having hours of fun with the new feature. :)

One thing to be wary of, LinkedIn generates its own endorsements for people it thinks they may have. So don't just blanket accept.
