Civility in critiquing the ideas of others is no vice. Rudeness in defending your own ideas is no virtue.

Kathy Sierra had an interesting post today, but for once I was more interested in a link she pointed out, to a weblog article entitled Doing the Leonardo, by an author, Dave Rogers, who I have not read before.  In this article, Dave quotes Milton Glazer on Leonardo da Vinci's use of ambiguity in the Last Supper:
DaVinci clearly believed that ambiguity was a way of arriving at the truth. As a result, the painting moves us in a deeper and more profound way than any direct statement.
Dave goes on to draw interesting parallels to how designers lead users through a web site or user interface, and whether we might want to leave a bit more ambiguity and challenge in our designs.  Interesting reading, both on Kathy's site and on Dave's.
