Lotusphere 2006 sessions database is coming soon

The sixth annual Lotusphere Sessions database is coming along nicely, with some really cool features added this year, thanks in large part to the collaboration of several members of Penumbra.  That collaboration is going to make this year's database more interesting than ever, although some of the best features are going to be held off for a bit to preserve the surprise.  To recognize the hard work and cooperation, this will be called the Penumbra Lotusphere 2006 Sessions Database (we should call it PickQuick for short).

In any case, the sessions are up on the Lotusphere website, and they have times and speakers, but, alas, they have no rooms yet.  So, until IBM releases the rooms, I'm not going to release the database.  It is just too useless to have sessions with no places.

But when they show up...

Sometimes the best inventions are re-inventions

Ray Ozzie has started a new blog, and one of his first entries is a compelling one... why not re-invent the Notes replication wheel for RSS?  He refers to the concept as Really Simple Sharing, but he admits immediately that he is taking the idea behind Notes replication and using it for something different.  I have some uses for the concept he comes up with myself, and will see about implementing it for my purposes, but I also want to emphasize that this is often the way of the world.  Taking a really cool idea and then reapplying it to other situations is a great way to look at things differently. You often see filmmakers and artists who discover a new technique and then continually find new and creative ways to apply it to different situations.  It's good to see Ray Ozzie taking this approach.  I wonder what similar re-inventions he has up his sleeve that may not be shared so publicly.
