Wow!  What an incredible way to spend 75 minutes.  Five uses for layers in five minutes just seemed tame, so I showed seven instead, but people like Bill Buchan showed thirty development tips in five minutes, so he must have been nigh on incomprehensible (well, I mean even besides being Scottish).  There was an open bar, and people seemed to have a great time.  Of course,  by the twelth group, the room was starting to spin a bit.  Everyone running it seemed pleased as well, so I think we may well see this again.

For those looking, my raw SpeedGeeking database is available for download, but some things may be hard to understand in its current format, so I hope to put out an updated version shortly (Monday or Tuesday, depending on those pesky customers).

Microsoft and Wikipedia

In the midst of the final days of Lotusphere, a lot of us may have missed the furor over Microsoft offering payment to a blogger to change "inaccuracies" in Wikipedia about Office Open XML (Rob is right that it is hard to say that correctly).  While I admit to a small twinge of sympathy for Microsoft, which must find it annoying that it seems that anybody can edit articles about their format except themselves, I am also a bit surprised.  Surely there must be somebody outside of Microsoft who likes Office Open XML enough to follow their suggestions and edit the entries without requiring payment.  Isn't there?

My abject apologies to Andrew and Gab

Apparently, my post yesterday about Rocky loading too much on Andrew and Gabriella was ill-received.  While we wandered about in the rain at the Animal Kingdom, both assured me that they were fully prepared to do twice as many sessions.  I think Gabriella said something along the lines of:
Bring 'em on, baby!
with muttered implications that there were no other admin presenters worth a %$@# (edited for family reading).  Andrew looked a bit shocked by the foul language, but did say
I really think it would be OK to give other admin speakers some of the regular sessions, but I do hope they give me more hands on sessions. Only the hands on sessions give me true scope to demonstrate my expertise and talent.
Or at least I think that is what they said.  They both seemed fairly reticent about bringing it up, and it was raining pretty hard by then, and I suppose I could have misheard.
