If you're trying to post a response on the Genii Software weblog, and find that you are unable to do so, there may be a couple of reasons.

The first possible cause is that I do not allow posts to my blog if there is no HTTP Referrer from my site. Usually this is caused when you are using a security product such as Norton Internet Security, which has a "privacy protection" feature - and you have this enabled. Unfortunately I have to refuse posts that do not contain a referrer because the posts generated by automated spamming programs ("spambots") out there currently do not contain referrers; therefore I can keep these insidious creeps from clogging my blog and slowing down my server by refusing their posts based on this lack of a referrer. If you would like to post on my site please refer to the user's guide of your security product to switch off your "referrer blocking", and then come back to post your comment.

The second possible cause is that your IP address is from a group (called a "subnet") of IP addresses that I have identified as being largely populated by spammers. If I have inadvertently blocked your address let me know and I'll correct the situation.

I apologize that things have gotten to this point, where I have to take such drastic measures to prevent spammers from ruining my blog. However I believe that these steps are necessary to be able to continue presenting this blog in a way that is enjoyable for everyone.

If you have any questions, please ask.
