Google AdSense - How do you react?

I was having a discussion with some friends about the Google AdSense program.  How do these advertisements make you feel?  Do they feel invasive or helpful?  Do they seem relevant, or are they often silly, or do you just not bother to look at them?  I dislike the encroachment of advertising in everyday life, but I can't tell whether this is the same annoying trend as slogans on sports backboards or a more benign trend that helps people in their perusal of a big and often confusing web.  Any thoughts?

I don't see them most of the time, bu toccasionally I'll notice something interesting at the periphery of my attention. Occasionaly something I'd actually be interested in, just as often it's something inappropriate -- sometime to the point of being hilarious. Call it selective filtering.

AdSense is easily the least obtrusive of the ads that seem to be everywhere in life today. They can't be mistaken for "real" content, you don't have to click through them to get where you wanted to go in the first place, they don't flash, wiggle or make annoying noises, they don't set third-party cookies. And occasionally they can be helpful. What's not to like?
