Note to self: just "Cheers!", no "Bye!"

I'd never make a good spy, at least not in England, even if I ever could learn an English accent. For you see, when I get to the end of a conversation with someone in England, I almost always remember to say "Cheers!" instead of "Bye!", but it just doesn't feel... finished. So, inevitably, although I tell myself not to, I add a small, "Bye!" after the "Cheers!". Arghh!!!!

That's OK. When I'm in the States I can simply never bring myself to say "to-MAY-to" rather than "to-MAR-to"... :o)

Just add "mate" to the end. Actually you can also use "mate" just about anywhere in any sentence. Perhaps this just applies to Australia/New Zealand?

Yes, if you want to sound like you came from down under, you can certainly sprinkle "mate" into your sentences much the way if you want to sound Canadian, you should end practically every sentence with "eh?"

The one I found hardest when I moved to the US, "See you later" when I know very well we won't.
Don't forget, cheers can also be used as a thank you :-)
