Well, I've decided to throw my hat back in the ring and submit some Lotusphere abstracts. Two are for sessions I've done before, although with some hefty modifications. Two are for sessions I've never done before, and don't even have completely mapped out in my head. Only one is for the longer JumpStart format. Some of the topics may surprise you if you just think of me as the "rich text guy", but none should surprise you terribly if you have been a regular reader of this blog for the past few years. I guess I'd best not say more, as I don't want to jinx the process, but I have my fingers crossed.
Update: I've submitted a fifth abstract, on the spur of the moment. It is titled "A Magic Carpet Ride". Any guesses either what it is about or whether it is likely to be accepted?

Hi Ben :) A question from someone who submitted their very first abstract ever: what if they like all five - will you have to present five times? Or are they more likely to choose one they like and let you off on the others, even though they're cool? I thought that I should actually post more than one abstract just in case the one I did post, is not approved. But I don't want to spend my whole Lotusphere panicking about presenting several sessions! (That is, in the miracle situation that they all are accepted, which, yes, is probably unlikely, but still). I just want to do one...
A magic carpet ride: hmmm, it is obviously about a process, or a journey; and then there is the Aladdin connection... perhaps the Genii software story? What a lovely topic :) if it is that, now. The task of creating some Notes plugin product like your set of products is enormous, and many would love to do it, but have no idea where to start (and more importantly: how to finish it). Am I close?

Adeleida - Go ahead and submit more than one. Chances are good that if you are unknown as a presenter, they will not give you multiple sessions, and you could probably say that you could not do more than two if they asked you to. I think the unofficial (perhaps even official) rule is that no non-IBM presenter can do more than three, but I imagine you have wiggle room if they pick multiple sessions. After all, it is like a job interview. Once they have tipped their hand that they want you, you have some negotiating room (not much, but a tiny bit)
Now, I have presented at multiple Lotuspheres and they will probably prove me wrong and want me to present all five sessions. That would be a nightmare, but fun too, if you know what I mean. More likely, they will pick one of my "known" sessions and one of my "risky" sessions, or they will be so sick of me they won't pick any at all. Sigh! Clearly, I don't have a clue either.
As for the "A Magic Carpet Ride" topic, you have wonderful ideas, and perhaps I should have thought of them, but you are way off track. I like the fact that the company name lends itself to the topic, but the actual presentation would have little to do with any of our products or company.

I love to spice up my titles and sessions with a theme .. last year I did the 'Hitchhikers Guide to Integration" as my jumpstart. This year I sumbmitted the 'Getting your feet wet: Jump Feet First into Integration', "The 2007 Revolution", and one other :)
