I totally agree...perhaps a BOF titled "Step Away From the Code: Life Beyond the Job"?

Great thinking, Ben. Some of my favorite conversations at IT conferences have been about roleplaying games, brewing, the US national parks and Big Bang Theory. It's amazing what's this community knows and what its interests are.
By the way, I'd like to hear you talk about fiction writing.

Being so far from everyone is indeed a challenge, I live on virtual stuff all day long. Think the key to making this meaningful is to be able to see, so Google Hangout or something with video could be fun, count me in!

Francie, the idea I had was a series of scheduled Google Hangouts on Air, so that up to 10 people could be interacting with each other at one time while as many others watched as wanted. All would be saved for later watching, which would also allow for different time zones. People who wanted to "attend live" (i.e., interact) would need to have a Google+ profile and register (though it would be free) so that they could be added to a circle who could be live on the Hangout. This would also allow panels of people to speak on a topic. I think the people interacting live could fade in and out so you could have Q&A with more people. The limit is just 10 at any given moment, as I understand it.
