Civility in critiquing the ideas of others is no vice. Rudeness in defending your own ideas is no virtue.

Please note that the result doesn't surprise me and is almost certainly well documented, but it seems an important thing to note about the Notes browser plugin.

Developers will recognize that the plugin is the rough equivalent of runing nlnotes.exe directly, or running the Notes Basic interface. Because the plugin does not include Eclipse, it even makes sense when the database is local. When the database is on a server, it would be better if IBM came up with a creative way to to deal with this limitation, such as a new Launch setting to direct to a URL so that the developer could send the launch to the XPages via the web option when it was available.

This is a follow up to my two earlier "First test" videos:

I doubled down and recorded my first test ever of the Midas LSX in Notes browser plugin as it happened. It is pretty amazing compatibility when you consider the agents were compiled in 1999 in R5 and run perfectly, including use of an LSX, in 2013 in a plugin to a browser. Kudos to the IBM team.

As I mentioned earlier, I decided to record the very first time I tried the Midas Rich Text LSX in Notes 9, just to live dangerously. Both Notes and Midas came through with flying colors, and even I was surprised at the second database's compatibility. You'll see why.

Update: For what it is worth, later on I also recorded live my first test of Midas inside the browser plugin: First Test of Midas in Notes browser plugin recorded.

I just installed Notes 9 and designer on my laptop. Since Midas was installed before, I'm going to gamble that it will work with Notes 9 as is without any changes. I'm confident enough in IBM that I will record my session and put it on Youtube. I'll have to do voice annotation afterward, because laptop screws up microphones, but otherwise you will see it as I try it. To make things interesting, I have downloaded two samples from my website that are quite old. Give me a little bit and I'll come back with the results. Cross your fingers.

In this very short demo, I  show how you can use the Midas Rich Text LSX to build instant reports that users can either run on-the-fly or which can load as part of a document opening. In other words, you could build a little bar chart like this based on the values in the document as the document loaded

Let me know if you have any requests for demos either of Midas Rich Text LSX features or Notes/Domino tricks having to do with rich text and such. I am making plans to do videos on Notes 9, on exporting rich text to HTML and MIME, and on more rich text tricks without Midas like the Progressive Disclosure video I made recently.

Since CoexLinks 3.0 was released, people have been asking how the new CoexLinks Clipper utility worked, and what its purpose was. I decided to make one of these "elevator pitch" demos I've been trying, and the results are below. Incidentally, if you want to subscribe to my Youtube channel, you can see my demos as I release them, as well as Gimp tutorials, general Notes tutorials, and occasional Mike Midas, Crystal Coex and other stories that I am making into videos.
